This is part two of a 29 image panorama photograph of only a portion of the Grand Staircase Escalante. This National Monument spans nearly 1.9 million acres of mostly untouched, undeveloped, wild land. It is quite literally YOUR public lands, to explore as you see fit, but to use minimally and preferably to leave no trace after such usage. There are roads, communities, ranchers, restaurants, tour companies, ATV rentals, etc. all in the area in order to serve public needs and also to service the local populations. This is some of the least developed land in the United States and it features many different unique, irreplaceable ecosystems, habitats, tens of thousands of dinosaur fossils found ONLY in this area, Native American artifacts, and an unspoiled place to study the Earth’s history through geologic time. President Trump is likely to sign an executive order asking for a review of the Antiquities Act, which covers OUR public lands, and a possible major sell-off. The land will not go to people like you and me buying homes or perhaps our very own hermit hut in the wilderness (my personal dream), it will go to oil companies, mining companies, and other extractive industries that cause widespread pollution, subsidence (sinking of the ground), and other factors that WILL spoil this largely unspoiled land. Please call your representative today to voice your concerns over OUR public lands being sold off.

My travelmate to this area, @corvidblue , and I will be calling our representatives today. Will you?

Best campsite yet. We stayed here for 6 days while getting to explore Arches National Park, Canyonlands, and everything in between. Can’t wait to go back to Moab.
